Dear Friends,
We are so pleased to announce that ArtSpring’s very important yearly fundraiser, Treasure Fair, is in the planning stages for 2021. Difficult as it was for the organization, last year’s Treasure Fair was cancelled due to the pandemic. The plan for 2021 is for an online silent and live auction. The wonderful team of Wendy Herbert and Susan Eide along with the new Treasure Fair Coordinator, Catherine Griffiths, are putting their heads together to devise a successful event that will be both entertaining and profitable!
The BC Provincial Health Order of November 19 has been extended and will be kept in place until further notice based on direction from the PHO. Unfortunately this means that ArtSpring will be closed to the public for the time being. Our Makana Youth Choir is able to continue under the current order.
With thanks,
Cicela Månsson

White Rabbit, Red Rabbit – The Cultch
I thought this sounded really interesting. With no rehearsals, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, internationally acclaimed White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is an audacious theatrical experiment and a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre. Forbidden to leave his native Iran, Soleimanpour wrote a play which travelled the world in his place. Join this free live-stream performance on March 13, 2021. more>
Les Illuminations – Benjamin Britten
Barbara Hannigan sings and conducts l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France performing Les Illuminations by Benjamin Britten. It reminds me when I conducted Messiah and sang the soprano solos. Not an easy feat! it took me three days to come down from the high. Thanks to George Sipos for this suggestion.
