ArtSpring Newsletter October 26, 2020

Dear Friends,

ArtSpring has been nominated for two Salty awards this year! As I scrolled through the entire list of nominees I was reminded of how many people and businesses have toughed it out and stepped up to the plate this year. All over the country people are innovating to get back up and running. One great story is the Highland Arts Theatre in Cape Breton. From a yearly donor base of $6,000 they have now almost reached their $600,000 yearly goal through $25 monthly donations. Less than $1 a day from a lot of individuals have got them to the point where they can create and launch a season. Wow!

By the way…do make sure you come to see the new collaborative work created by 26 Salt Spring visual artists and writers, all brilliantly curated by Margaret Day. Collaborations in a Time of Covid runs until November 1.

This past Monday CBC rebroadcast Jann Arden’s 2010 Massey Hall concert. It was such a joy filled concert and she so clearly is a phenomenal artist that I had to share it with you, all one hour and 18 minutes of it! You’ll find the link in Online Events section below.

With all best wishes,
Cicela Månsson
Executive & Artistic Director, ArtSpring

Spend an hour with one of Canada’s most beloved female artists: Jann Arden. It’s late January of 2010 and Jann Arden is heading out onstage for the second of FOUR nights in a row at Massey Hall in Toronto. She and her band are about to play songs off her TENTH album, Free, which would go on to earn her a Juno Award nomination for “Artist of the Year.” By this time, she has already won EIGHT of her ten Junos AND a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. Jann Arden is a true Canadian star and she’s at the top of her game. As you’ll hear, her banter with the crowd is warm and very funny. Nearly 3000 closest friends in Massey Hall are about to eat her up and have the time of their lives. So join us as we revisit a true Jann Arden love-in from her glory days. More>
