Viva Voce! conductor Debbi Toole carefully chose this fall’s programme titled With All Our Hearts, which is contemplations on how we pay homage. The choir sings from a diverse collection steeped in reflections of peace, honour, and love. This autumn’s programme also marks the debut of Viva Voce Youth! featuring singers ranging from eight to thirteen years old. The youth will sing various pieces including A Song Of Peace by Mary Donnelly and Bist du Bei Mir by J.S. Bach. They will also join with Viva Voce! for The Ground by Norway’s Ola Gjielo.
Additionally, Viva Voce’s programme will feature Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, set to the delicate poetry of his wife, Hila Plitmann, born in Jerusalem. This touching, sometimes lively piece is accompanied by Chris Kodaly, piano and Carolyn Hatch, violin. The concert will also include Joseph Haydn’s Responsoria Venerabili, 4 hymns of praise circa 1767, which were thought to be lost for about 200 years until the manuscript was discovered in the Prague National Museum. Debbi Toole and Viva Voce! invite you to come share these pieces and many more in this homage to peace and remembrance.
