Who?” by Greg Klassen will open at ArtSpring with a reception at 5:00 p.m. on September 21. The show will run until Sept. 27.

The series is a playful exploration – and perceptual challenge – of the literal and figurative notions of ‘portrait’. Our perceptions – of ourselves and others – are explored by referencing the various facets of a subject’s personality, photographing multiples of each subject the number of which is determined through extensive dialogue.

It is also an exploration of barriers to communication. As an Asperger’s personality, non-verbal communication seems a foreign language to Greg. As a consequence, “Who?” has become a therapeutic device. Each image completed changes his perception, altering his ability to see.

As a new resident of Salt Spring, Greg wants to invite everyone to come to his opening, to meet and talk – and to give him the chance to further invite you to participate in this ongoing project…
