Shay Kuebler, who has worked as independent dance artist in Vancouver and Montreal for the past eight years, will lead a dance workshop on Salt Spring. (His company will also perform at ArtSpring on April 7.) Kuebler will teach workshop participants how all dance techniques can reinforce and strengthen each other, and that technique, when used in an instinctive manner, can be integrated into any other form of art.
Kuebler has had the honour of performing and creating his own work for companies across Canada and for international dance festivals. With a foundation in the martial arts, he aims to create physical performances that are finely tuned yet able to retain an instinctual and raw quality. Kuebler’s professional performance and choreographic career has spanned the disciplines of tap, hip hop and contemporary dance. He is the co-founder of the Vancouver-based 605 Collective and currently runs Shay Kuebler Creations and Productions.
Please note, the workshop takes place at Cats Pajamas Studio, 104 Langs Road
