Prepare for an unprecedented musical and visual treat as the Salt Spring Concert Band presents music from award-winning anime films and exceptionally beautiful selections by Japanese composers. The concert will feature arrangements from three scores by composer Joe Hisaishi from the famous animation Japanese film company Studio Ghibli. Audiences will be treated to the music from Princess Mononoke, Laputa – Castle in the Sky, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, while enjoying scenes from the movie projected on a screen. The concert also features Arabian Star by Yoshio Matsuo, Singapore Flyer by Satoshi Yagisawa and two stunning arrangements of traditional Japanese folk tunes by Masanori Taruya. A special guest artist is creating the screen show and the evening will be full of drama, joy, excitement, beauty and surprises.
