Sunday October 23 | 1:30pm
The very best students from Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Young Artists Collegium Program come to ArtSpring for a special chamber music concert. Featuring ensembles of outstanding young talent on strings, winds and piano, the concert will be followed by fascinating on-stage feedback to these rising stars from cellist Joseph Elworthy (President & CEO of the Vancouver Academy of Music).
Program includes Mozart, Clarinet Quintet K581; Moritz Moszkowski, Suite for Two Violins and Piano in G Minor, Op. 71; Milhaud, Sonata for two violins and piano, Opus 15; Haydn, Piano Trio in C major, Hob. XV:21; Robert Fuchs, 7 Phantasiestücke, Op.57; Franz Doppler, Andante in A major from Andante and Rondo, op. 25; Boismortier, Trio no. 6 in e minor.
Founded in 2006, the Collegium includes 12-18 year-olds studying piano, violin, viola, cello, voice, flute, oboe, clarinet, and guitar. The VCM Collegium program is highly successful and rated among the best in Canada. Students have won top prizes in the local, provincial and national music festivals, and graduates have earned placements at UVic, McGill University, Robert McDuffie School, New England Conservatory, Curtis Institute, and at the Juilliard School of Music.
