With missile tests and nuclear threats, how dangerous is North Korea and, for that matter, Donald Trump? Are sanctions against North Korea having any effect? What might China and Russia do if the crisis worsens?
To help us understand the North Korea crisis and much more, the Salt Spring Forum is delighted to host Alex Butterfield who, until recently, was one of the most senior defence intelligence officers in the United States.
From 2012-2017, Alex Butterfield served as Senior Defense Intelligence Advisor to the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), which encompasses half the Earth’s surface. Butterfield briefed senior U.S. and international government officials on security issues, with special responsibilities for China and Korea.
A career naval intelligence officer, Butterfield was previously posted in Hong Kong and Macau. He also served as Commander of the Office of Naval Intelligence, managing the worldwide operations of 4,000 officers.
Please join the Salt Spring Forum in discussion, as we learn about the North Korea crisis – and the world of military intelligence – from this incredibly well-informed guest.
