ArtSpring and COVID-19
March 13, 2020
Dear ArtSpring patrons,
The safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is of utmost importance to us at ArtSpring. We are closely monitoring developments around COVID-19 and following the Public Health Agency of Canada and HealthLink BC for recommendations, guidance, and direction. At this time Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has directed event organizers to cancel any gatherings larger than 250 people. The following ArtSpring performances and events have been cancelled:
Friday March 13 – Salt Spring Forum with Kevin Patterson MD
This event is now being recorded and will be available on www.saltspringforum.com on Saturday March 14. Information about what to do with your tickets can be found on: www.saltspringforum.com/new-events
Saturday March 14 – Met Opera: Der Fliegende Holländer
The box office will be processing refunds for ticket holders next week.
MET Opera has cancelled all performances through to March 31.
Thursday March 19-Sunday March 22 – Choral Festival Workshop and Concert
As the Choral Festival workshop involves relatively close proximity by participants, the director Morna Edmundson and ArtSpring have proactively decided that it is best to reschedule for next season. Choral Festival registrants can choose a complete refund or could choose to leave their registration fee with ArtSpring as a donation. Anyone who cancelled in advance will be offered a full refund or donation option.
Saturday March 28 – Celebrate the Arts
This event also involves close proximity by participants, therefore ArtSpring has proactively decided that it is best to reschedule this event for next season.
As a small not-for-profit live performance venue and gallery space, we rely on your support. Thank you.
To help keep the public healthy we have implemented extra disinfecting and sanitation measures throughout our spaces including disinfecting all high-touch surfaces before each show and sanitizing every surface in our washrooms. Also we have added signage on recommended precautions, and are in the process of installing additional hand-sanitizers.
During this time please help reduce demand on our health care system. If you have travelled outside of the country please self-isolate for 14 days upon your return. If you feel ill, please stay home. If you have tickets to an ArtSpring Presents event and are unable to attend because you feel ill or have recently been out of the country let us know and we’ll provide tickets to a future show. Email tickets@artspring.ca or call 250.537.2102.
Our website and social media channels will be updated with any additional actions we are implementing to keep you safe, as well as any changes to our schedule.
We continue to assess the situation daily. Thank you for your trust in ArtSpring.
