Luanne Katz plays Berkeley

Salt Spring percussionist Luanne Katz has just returned from performing a new work by composer Luther Adams on the campus of UC Berkeley.

The work, entitled Inuksuit, premiered at Banff in 2009 is scored for a flexible percussion orchestra of nine to 99 players. Needless to say, the Berkeley performance was on the lower end of the personnel scale, though it did include the campus clock tower. The picture on the left shows Luanne in action during the performance.

Luanne will be part of our Salt Spring Chamber Music Festival this summer with a performance on Tuesday July 24 with the string faculty of the Festival. Tickets are now available at $18 or $5 for youth. We’ll have the programme she will be playing on the website shortly.
