Montréal’s Bouge de là Dance Co. is the most innovative dance/theatre company in the country devoted to new work for young audiences. For all that, we are billing The Studio (or L’atelier as it’s called in French) as an adult performace as well as a show we will present to schools on Wednesday, March 6. Choreographer Hélène Langevin has created an exploration of the connections between dance and such 20th Century painters as Renee Magritte, Jackson Pollock, Jean Dubuffet, the Abstract Expressionists and Pop Art. The show is visually stunning and the movement beautifully realized by a cast of four of Quebec’s best young dancers. The Studio has just won a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Canada’s best theatre for young audiences.
