Argentina is in the air! In honour of the award-winning Payadora’s upcoming “Tangomania” performance at ArtSpring Friday March 22, join us for a lesson on tango for beginners. No experience or partner required. Just bring your dancing shoes (with leather or suede soles if possible.)
The lesson is hosted by Por el Amor al Tango — a small but lively tango society on Salt Spring Island. Established in 1998, it hosts weekly practicas and also welcomes dancers from all over Vancouver Island, and beyond, to join its monthly milongas (tango dances.)
Your teachers will be Lya Elcagu (Buenos Aires) and Ivan Aleksandrov (Ottawa) who are coming as guest teachers for the group’s milonga on March 9th.
By watching this mesmerizing dance between two people, it’s really easy to get hooked on it! Get a taste of the basic skills you need to start dancing Argentine tango! As a bonus, you’ll even get to see ArtSpring’s Executive and Artistic Director Howard try his hand (er, feet) on the dance floor.
$20/person | Maximum of 30 people | Join us in the gallery | Registry preferred but walk-ups welcome.
