Every year, the SaltSpring Photography Club (SSPC) members are invited to submit any image the photographer wants to exhibit, without the constraints of size or subject matter for the annual January Lobby Show at ArtSpring.
The dates this year (2025) are from January 7th through February 4th This show is an opportunity for Photo Club members to submit any image the photographer wants to exhibit, without the constraints of size or subject matter.
Some members submit their most unusual, most beautiful, most interesting or most technically challenged image of the preceding year. Some submit their most comical, studious, colourful or accomplished composition. Some simply submit their favourite image or one that caused deeper thought in themselves or their peers.
Most of the images are offered for sale, some not and are just for ‘show’, this is the artist’s choice. The artist’s contact information is on the information tags.

Lobby is open Tuesday-Friday 10-2pm and before/after scheduled evening or weekend performances.
SaltSpring Photography Club History:
The SSPC was founded in 2009 as a group intended for the exchange of ideas and technical knowledge regarding photography. Our organization ranges from 70 to 120 members, representing a wide range of photographic knowledge and experience, from beginners to retired professionals, united by a common love of photography, with an enthusiastic willingness to support and encourage each other. SSPC offers three venues for sharing ideas and technical knowledge. The first is our formal monthly meeting, convened the second Wednesday of each month, 7 pm, During the Dark Winter months we meet via Zoom but Summer months we meet in person at the Library. Meetings begin with club business, move to a short educational presentation, and are followed by a friendly critique and an appreciation session of members’ submitted photographs relating to that particular month’s theme.
The second venue is our website, a place where members can post their images and blogs and offer critique on other members’ work. Lively discussions on the site can go beyond the technical to the philosophical, inspiring thought-provoking questions and greater creative expressions.
The third venue is an informal weekly coffee-and-muffin gathering on Monday mornings at 10 am at various local Cafes. Everything photographic, and sometimes entirely non-photographic, is discussed.
Those wishing to purchase images can make arrangements through the ticket office in the ArtSpring foyer.
