This fundraising event will help the Salt Spring Island Conservancy purchase a property around Blackburn Lake which will protect the area’s wetlands and wildlife, and help ensure the health of the Cusheon watershed.
Salt Spring’s Robert Bateman, internationally recognized wildlife artist and naturalist, will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about his life experiences drawing and painting birds, particularly those found on the Blackburn property. Susan Hannon, avian ecologist, will also speak about the migration patterns of Salt Spring birds.
There will be cookies and refreshments as well as a silent auction. The event is co-sponsored by the Salt Spring Island Trail and Nature Club.
