The Salt Spring Concert Band introduces the holiday season with a sparkling and lively concert of best-loved music from the ballet. Music Director Dawn Hage will lead the band with favourite themes from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, Prince Igor by Borodin, Delibes’ Coppelia, and Appalachian Spring and Rodeo by Copland. In addition to these classic ballets, the Concert Band will also present music from the ballet Pineapple Poll, a whirlwind four movement musical spoof on Gilbert and Sullivan operettas based on the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. Russian Sailors Dance from Gliere’s The Red Poppy and Leroy Anderson’s Belle of the Ball will get toes tapping and put a smile on faces. The concert will also feature the music and dance of Broadway with a medley from A Chorus Line and a new work titled Choreography by Robert Sheldon will be presented.
