Salt Spring, famous for its community of artists and writers, now presents an island-wide exhibition by its most accomplished photographers. The island’s two photographic groups have combined for Photofest, a breath-taking display of the photographer’s art, on show in 33 different venues around the island. The new festival, which runs from June 13 to June 26, is the result of a coming together of the Salt Spring Photography Club’s 100 members and Photosynthesis, a group of 20 established photographers, and has been timed to coincide with the annual Tour des Iles festival to encourage visitors to the island to take in some of the many venues. Photosynthesis’ main exhibition will be at Artspring while the Photographic Club’s show is in the gallery above Gallery 8. Other venues include Mahon Hall, downtown cafes and galleries, Fernwood café and many more. All locations will be shown on a special brochure/map.
