Appropriately for Remembrance Day in the year of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, Quebec pianist Maxim Bernard brings us an evening of music for solo piano, all composed between 1914 and 1918. Works by Rachmaninoff, Faure, Bartok, Medtner, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Nielsen and Ravel trace the range of artistic responses to the momentous events of a world at war.
“It is his scope and range as a pianist that set him apart. He can play with great power, and still maintain intimate sensitivity in his music.” – MENAHEM PRESSLER
