“As a performing songwriter, I aim to connect with my audience on an emotional level. That’s the full circle moment – when the creative journey that started as a solitary endeavour completes itself with the sharing of what came out of it, and having it land. I express myself as honestly as I can. I find I respond most strongly to music when I can hear authenticity in the singer’s words and that is what I strive for. My work is often egocentric – telling my stories, expressing my feelings, seeing what I see- but the themes travel through emotional territory shared with my fellow humans. Putting those thoughts and emotions into words that rhyme, to harmonically interesting melodies and with a wide range of rhythms, that others can relate to and appreciate – that is my goal. And a delight each time I manage to do it!”
