Discover the joys of group singing!
The Makana Youth Choirs are the place to develop healthy singing habits, learn musical literacy skills, and put on a concert. All while having fun with your friends.
Makana Kids for Grades 2–5 | Fridays 3pm–4pm
NEW Makana Youth for Grades 6–9 | Fridays 4pm–5pm
End of term concert Sunday November 27 | 2:30pm
Students will have weekly rehearsals in preparation for a concert at the end of the term. Classes will focus on learning repertoire including pop, folk, classical, and music from all over the world. Our most recent concert included songs by Imagine Dragons, the Beatles, a Hawaiian folk song, children’s nursery rhyme arrangement, and a gospel spiritual. Singers will be exposed to a wide variety of styles and singing techniques.
Classes will also focus on developing healthy singing techniques for individuals and choral ensembles, as well as a focus on reading music using Kodaly methodologies. The name Makana is the Hawaiian word for “gift” and these classes offer a gift that will stay with your children for the rest of their lives.
Fee: $147 per term – Financial assistance is available upon request
