An ensemble of outstanding early music performers from Canada and the UK, the Luchkow-Jarvis-Stadlen Trio is dedicated to performing repertoire for baroque violin, viol, and continuo. The sold-out shows in their first BC 2017 tour speak to their mastery of this repertoire. Paul Luchkow, baroque violin, and Michael Jarvis, harpsichord are joined by internationally-acclaimed viola da gambist Sam Stadlen of Fretwork (London, UK) in a joyful and remarkable programme exploring the beginnings of the Classical style. In late 18th-century England, the viola da gamba enjoyed a remarkable revival by members of the English aristocracy, resulting in new, daring, and virtuosic commissions by the leading composers of the time. Works include JC Bach, Festing, Lates, Telemann, Paxton, Pepusch.
