Ken Ketchum and Bob Rogers share the Art Spring lobby this month with an artistic collaboration of paintings and photography.
Ken Ketchum shows his large and small paintings in acrylic and oil from 2013. They are a collection of works on paper and canvas inspired by 18th and 19th century botanical and bird illustrations, but done with a twist. Humanoid figures, strange critters, and whimsical beings emerge from the foliage in a playful way. Ken will also be showing small photographs, some of which have yet to be viewed on Salt Spring Island.
Bob Rogers continues his photographic art form with selections from his series “Reflections” which depicts the mysterious qualities of light reflecting on water. Bob has been working on this series for several years and this show provides examples of his best results. “I’m not showing you what my camera saw; I’m showing you what my mind sees,” explains Rogers. Though the images rely on the right conditions of water, wind and sky to make the reflection possible, they are more than just a record of the moment.
The exhibit is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or during performances.
