Join George Ehring as he presents an entirely new five-week course in classical music appreciation. This course will explore the topic of “meaning in music”. Participants will learn how classical music can be “about” something and will discover how, even without words, composers put “meaning” into their music.

Music is a powerful and evocative art form. It stirs our hearts, enlivens our imagination, and stimulates our emotions. It gives us joy and makes us sad.

What are the tools composers use to make us feel what they want us to? How do they make us think of particular places, things, and even concepts like love and peace? Music may well move us, but how do composers take us where they want us to go? Let’s explore.
