We proudly present three young musicians whose careers have blossomed since we first got to know them at ArtSpring. Cellist Rylan Gajek grew up on Salt Spring and did his early training with Paula Kiffner and is now pursuing post-secondary studies in music and mathematics at Bard College in New York. This summer he toured in China and took part in music residencies in Calgary and Cambridge.
Iman Habibi and Deborah Grimmett, who now perform together as a duo called Piano Pinnacle, attended ArtSpring’s first and only Piano Festival/Residency in early 2007. Since then they have completed gradu- ate degrees at UBC and launched careers as recitalists. Iman is also a composer whose work has been performed by a number of Canadian orchestras.
