From Dance to Canvas is a children’s art exhibit by Salt Spring youth in response to the dance performance The Studio by Bouge de là Dance Co. (The dance show takes place at ArtSpring on March 5th.) The children’s exhibit will be on display in the gallery from March 1 to March 6 (on weekdays and prior to performances) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Studio is a dance performance geared towards young audiences where dance meets the visual arts. Choreographer Hélène Langevin establishes a dialogue between these two forms of expressions by drawing on major art of the 20th Century like work by Jackson Pollock and René Magritte, as well as Expressionism and Pop Art. These artists and movements served as a point of departure for the choreography and sets created for the The Studio. They’ve also served to ignite the imagination of the children whose art is featured in this exhibition. Be sure to come and see this eclectic and innovative art show.
