The Annual Student Art Enrichment program facilitated by multimedia Artist Tracy Harrison invites you to the Opening and Exhibit of their work from this year’s program. Students from Salt Spring Middle School and GISS have been exploring the landscape painting techniques, history and paintings of the famous Group of 7. A kayak trip with Island Escapades to Chocolate Beach for Plein air painting sessions on the water and on the land, in studio technique tutorials, graphite and oil pastel sketching and acrylic painting, documentary studies of the artists and interactive computer studies of the Group of 7 paintings have all culminated into the students own creation and collection of paintings and graphite/pastel sketches. We invite you to view their interpretations of the beauty of our immediate land in this special archipelago in which we live and their attempts to emulate this extraordinary group of Canadian Artists. This program was made possible with the generous grant of the SSI Foundation and donation of Country Grocer for which we are very grateful. Students will be in attendance for the Opening on December 3rd– 1:30 to 4:00 pm. The show will continue on December 4thand 5th– 10:00 to 4:00 each day.
