Edgar Hann & Em Walker with Adam Hubler, an East Coast Music trio.
“I (Marilyn who plays music as Em) have been a homeowner on SSI for almost 30 years and have lived here year round since I retired as a university professor in the Maritimes. My ancestry is English, Welsh, Irish. Edgar Hann moved to SSI from the Maritimes about 10 years ago – he is originally from Newfoundland and has Mi’kmaq (documented back to 1763) & settler ancestry. He goes back ‘home’ to Newfoundland every summer to play music.
Together we play Irish/Celtic/Newfoundland music – we have 4 CDs (covers and originals) between us and are members of SOCAN. As musicians, we have organized and participated in many music-related events on SSI from funerals/memorials to Artist-in-the-Class, to performances at Fulford Hall, Star Of The Sea, Tea a Tempo, the Fall Fair, Mahon Hall, ArtSpring, Beaver Point Hall, Mateada, the Legion, Fulford Seniors, Lady Minto Hospital, and so on. We are joined by other long-term islanders depending on the event. As well, we teach participatory drumming/singing classes at our home studio and have done so for many years.”
