SSI Conservancy Annual Fundraiser – Planet Remarkable. As planets go, the Earth is a small rock, surrounded by a thin bubble of air and a thinner film of water. It is also a place of abundant life – a remarkable ecosystem that seems, as far as we can tell so far, to be unique in an incredibly hostile universe. On Sunday, November 13, CBC’s host of Quirks and Quarks, Bob McDonald will explore the science behind our remarkable planet through an exciting illustrated presentation at ArtSpring. The event is a fundraiser for the Salt Spring Conservancy. The activities begin at 2:00 pm with a silent auction viewing and refreshments. The presentation begins at 3:00 pm.

In addition to hosting Quirks and Quarks, McDonald is a popular science author and journalist, and has been recognized with several honorary degrees, and recently, the Order of Canada.
