Today is the last day to see the work of our creative Salt Spring youth and to show your support for their developing talent. Every year the ArtSpring Youth Art Enrichment Program, facilitated by local artist Tracy Harrison, invites promising young artists (ages 10 to 14) to enhance their skill set by exploring the work of master painters and sculptors through educational art-making workshops. This year we explore the lives and work of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera while learning about the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which is traditionally celebrated with Catrinas (skeleton figures), Calaveras (skull art), and ceremony to honour those who have passed.
The work produced by these talented youth is on display in a special exhibit. Join us in costume for the opening reception on October 31st from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Or, drop by on November 1st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm or November 2nd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and see this vibrant exhibit.
