Dowland Lachrimae
Dowland’s Lachrimae has become a canon in the annals of consort music. Slow, rich in harmony with time for contemplation, the sonnet that the original song was set to speaks of the pain of love lost. These seven tears of extreme beauty are cried out in five parts by viols played by Margaret Little, Susie Napper, Mélisande Corriveau, and Felix Deak, with exquisite lute solos under the masterful hands of Nigel North. Pre-show talk at 7pm.
