Join the Salt Spring Forum as they host Marsha Lederman, Arts Correspondent for the Globe and Mail, as part of the Fine Art Signature Showcase in the ArtSpring galleries. This forum-style evening entitled Canadian Art at the Cross Roads: Keeping Fine Art Alive in a Changing World will be a community discussion on struggle and change in Canadian arts. Marsha Lederman is a veteran arts journalist whose work focuses on art, its meaning, and the artists who produce it. The discussion will take place in the gallery surrounded by the work of 40 outstanding artists from Salt Spring Island. The evening will focus on how Canadian arts have been affected by the economic recession, changes in government support, and changes in media coverage since 2008. How can we keep Canadian arts alive and thriving in a changing world?
Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended, as this event might sell out. Tickets are $15 (Forum members pay $10). Please note that Forum members must purchase their tickets at the ArtSpring Box office either in person or by telephone in order to receive the $10 ticket price.
