Members of 100+ Women Who Care Salt Spring Island are invited to gather in ArtSpring’s theatre to watch live as three submitted nominees are randomly selected to present their charity’s cause in five minutes or less. After the three presentations, the audience is invited to vote on which cause they support. The votes are tallied and a majority winner is awarded the entire pledge of $100 per person. Members have 24 hours to submit payment, whether their charity was the winner or not. Within an hour, this simple, high-impact model of giving is resulting in cheques of $18,000-$20,000, a truly meaningful amount to these organizations. The Salt Spring Chapter was established in 2018 and has raised almost $200,000.
