We celebrate any creative endeavour.

We celebrate our artistic community.

Salt Spring Island – ArtSpring is very pleased to announce their 3rd annual Celebrate the Arts: Art Making by the Salt Spring Artist Community, in collaboration with Salt Spring Arts Council’s 2019 Easter Art Tour.

Celebrate the Arts! features a one-day gallery exhibit and theatre performance of participatory artworks created for anyone interested in the process and experience of making art. The exhibition will be held on April 20 from 10:00am to 4:00pm in the ArtSpring Gallery and will feature participatory (any artistic level and age welcome) and demonstrative art projects. A giant participatory mural-making project will be part of the event. In the ArtSpring Theatre from 5:00pm to 6:00pm theatrical Mash-ups celebrate the creativity of cross-genre artists who have come together to create new works of performance art.

The evening Mash-ups are an alchemy of performances by visual and performing artists who have come together to experiment and create something new. These works are not necessarily polished but allow the viewer and performers to enter into new territories with the seeds of a concept and the excitement of the unknown. Time limit of 3-7 minutes per performance.

Workshops for children run from 10 am to noon. Art educator Johanna Hoskins will lead interactive mural and tile painting for children of all ages in the ArtSpring galleries. Parents and guardians are asked not to leave children unattended.

Presenting Artmakers: Patrick McCallum, Sara Ratner, Johanna Hoskins, Debbi Toole, Bernadette Mertens-McAllister, Robbyn Scott,… and many more.

“We hope that not only will visitors come away with a new appreciation for the creative process but that they will also have had the opportunity to participate in some way.” Cicela Månsson – Executive & Artistic Director, ArtSpring
