Cabarazz? Yes Please!

Adi-BraunThere is a freedom in jazz music. A freedom that vocalist Adi Braun, who performs in our theatre October 12th, relishes.

“Just leaving things to chance is a wonderful opportunity that one is given by jazz,” she says. And at the same time, perhaps it is her classical training that keeps her within arms reach of the original melodies of the songs she sings. She is more inclined to focus on the meaning and flavour of the lyrics.

Braun was raised in a family of classical musicians and was also trained classically, beginning her singing career in operas. She then took the plunge into the music she loves (and the music we’ll get to enjoy Saturday), which she calls “cabarazz”, drawing on aspects of cabaret and jazz.

Adi Braun is now recognized internationally as one of Canada’s leading jazz vocalists and her band is also superb. We’ll be in for a real treat this Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.
