2BeatriceRana_c_Julien_Faugere-7a304Young Italian star Beatrice Rana performs at ArtSpring Thursday, September 26.

Her repertoire includes two early Schumann piano works and two mature works from Maurice Ravel. Gaspard de la Nuit is Ravel’s setting of three early 20th C French poems. The third one, Scarbo, is considered one of the most difficult solo piano pieces ever written.

Of the second, La Valse, composer George Benjamin has said: “Whether or not it was intended as a metaphor for the predicament of European civilization in the aftermath of the Great War, its one-movement design plots the birth, decay and destruction of a musical genre: the waltz.”

This is great music performed by one of the world’s most exciting young pianists.

Why would you want to be anywhere but at ArtSpring on Thursday evening?
