Exquisite_EdenLocal artists from the Salt Spring Gallery of Fine Art have been busy creating and they start the summer season with their show Exquisite Eden.

Lloyd Nicholson, Ken Ketchum and Heidi Van Impe display new work at ArtSpring from May 17th -21st, 10:00 a.m. to 4:oo p.m. The wine and cheese reception is May 18th, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Although they come from three different backgrounds, their exhibition is harmonious, with each artist exploring the elegant flow and rhythm of nature. Waves, leaves, blossoms and whimsical creatures entwine through various pieces, reflecting back connection to nature and the rhythm life.

The Salt Spring Grand(m)others to Grandmothers are proud to present a juried exhibition of 40 works by artists from across Canada, the United States and Europe that celebrates African grandmothers. The exhibit, Celebrating African Grandmothers, Heroes of the Continenttells the story of the hope and small triumphs which light the way to victory over the AIDS pandemic. 

Two local artists, Patricia Brown and Janis Woode are represented in the show.  This art exhibit, assembled by the Royal City Gogos, is being hosted by the Salt Spring Island Grand(m)others to Grandmothers group which raises funds for grassroots projects supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation. 

You are invited to a reception on Friday, June 7th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The exhibit will be open in the  June 6, 7 and 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Joel Solomon is the Chair of Renewal Funds, Canada’s largest social venture capital firm, which has invested in over 75 companies committed to socially responsible growth. He also founded the Social Venture Network (SVN), Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), Tides Canada Foundation, and Hollyhock. Solomon is the force behind Vision Vancouver and the recent move of the TED Lectures to Vancouver.

Joel Solomon believes we are on the verge of a massive renewal on how we understand money, that people can use their money to build stronger communities and create conditions for more hope, inspiration, and love. This discussion promises to be inspiring and empowering.
