2010-11 Season
Welcome to ArtSpring’s 2010-11 season of great music, comedy, dance and family programming.
What’s new this year?
• The biggest change we must all face is the introduction of HST. In the past, tickets were subject only to 5% GST, but from July 1, 2010 the government requires the addition of 12% HST. In and of itself, this should mean that you would end up paying 7% more for tickets than you did last year. The good news, however, is that we have decided to lower all our adult ticket prices by $1. This does not totally make up for the increased cost to you occasioned by the HST, but it is our way of trying to ease the burden somewhat without losing our own shirts. Thus on a $23 ticket you will end up paying only approximately 50 cents more than before the HST
• We have slightly reduced the total number of shows in our season from 27 in 2009-10 to 21 in 2010-11. This is largely in response to your comments that we had perhaps too much going on at certain times of year and you simply couldn’t make it to everything you wanted to see.
What hasn’t changed?
• The basic subscription packages you have become accustomed to (Great Performers, On Stage, ArtSwings and Dance) continue as before.
• We again offer the opportunity to create your own series package (Make Your Own Meal) since this proved very popular last year. You should be aware, however, that, by the very nature of the idea, it is not possible to ensure you get the same seats as you had last year.
• We continue to offer $5 admission for all youth because we believe it important for young people to become exposed to fine and varied live performances.
• Above all, what hasn’t changed is our desire to bring you the very best programming, from Canada and abroad, and also from the ranks of professional artists in our own community. We hope you will join us in the adventure of discovering new artistic experiences in the year ahead.
