Traditional songs like Cape Breton Lullaby, and Danse Mon Moine Danse join more modern pieces like In Remembrance and O Siem. The challenge of Soneto de la Noche by Mitch’s favourite choral composer Morten Lauridsen is set against Imant Raminsh’s Ubi Caritas. Audience favourites like This Land is Your Land will round out the program. A special guest appearance by Alan Moberg will have the choir on their mettle for his Williams Lake Stampede. Come for a rousing tribute to Canadian songs and to Mitch Howard’s passion for community music.

Freelance book editor (and ex-Globe and Mail journalist) Cheryl Cohen was so happy with the outcome of her first Editing Workshop on Salt Spring that she is back with another one. “She presents essential information with a generous spirit,” wrote one March 3 workshop participant. “I had to turn people away, though,” Cheryl notes. So her second workshop will take place in ArtSpring’s multidisciplinary room on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $85 (by April 12) or $100. Contact: email or 250-538-8172.
