The intent of combining these different approaches is ultimately to foster a deeper understanding of the body\, breathing and movement\, and to discover new ways of moving the body in space. This workshop is open to all levels of dancers\, teens/adults. Chinese-Canadian dancer-choreographer Wen Wei Wang is one of Canada’s most important and most innovative choreographers. His company is performing “Unbound” at ArtSpring on Thursday February 23\, 8:00 pm. Wen Wei received the 2006 Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography for “Unbound”. Paula Citron\, dance critic for the Globe and Mail wrote: "... a master of imagery. His use of symbolism in dance is superb ... “ Wen Wei was born in mainland China\, where he trained and performed as a professional dancer before coming to Canada in 1991. He subsequently spent 12 years in Canada as a professional dancer\, teacher and choreographer performing with several Canadian companies including Judith Marcuse Dance Projects and Ballet British Columbia. He has choreographed more than twenty works for various groups and companies\, including Arts Umbrella Youth Dance Company\, Banff Festival Ballet\, Goh Ballet Company\, Dancers Dancing\, Ballet Jörgen Canada\, Alberta Ballet and Vancouver’s production of Nixon in China.
